project

i have an injury test on monday and a chracter final on tuesday.. im thinking of doing a zombie type character for my final, all bloody and creepy.....

im all for the bloody and creepy moreso then the cute, cuddly, or scifi looking characters. i like scary and that is fact..

so for my injury final we have to do a scar, a cut, scrape, black eye and a 1st 2nd & 3rd degree burn...

so, for all of u makeup afficianados out there go to mud in burbank, the teachers are amazing (if u have character make sure u get juliet loveland, shes one of te most amazing teachers ever.).

Random

I found this in Makeup Artist Magazine and wanted to share...

Jeannee Josefczyk's Rules to Live By

1) Inspiration can come from anywhere, so always watch and listen.

2) What happens in the trailer, stays in the trailer.

3) Be as realistic as possible.

4) Keep the Monkeys at bay.

Invictus by William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that carries me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever god may be,
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance,
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance,
My head is bloody but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath & tears,
Looms but the Horror of the Shade.
And yet the menace of the years,
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

what ive learned being on set

I spent the past 3 days in Victorville, CA filming a short film called World of Lines which will also be a Coheed and Cambria music video for their song "World of Lines", its a double whammy.

I was the key makeup artist (only makeup artist) on set and i had my little sister assisting me.

So, from being on set i wanted to share a few things ive learned...

1) always, always, always have extra chap sticks and tons of sunblock with u on set, no matter where youre filming.

2) always have clear anti perspirant and brown paper towels with u in case you have overly active sweaters in your cast. use a sponge to put apply the deodorant to the hairline and perspiring areas, and blot w/ brown paper towels, the white ones will leave white residue on the actors.

3) anytime it looks like someone in the cast or crew needs help, always ask if they want help. dont stand there and watch.

4) always listen to the director. NO MATTER WHAT. this is their project, they know what they want.

5) always be courteous to everyone on set. everyone is there to do a job, they dont need youre attitude.

6) take care of your actors. if they need anythin at all, help them out.

7) never ever leave w/o telling any1 where youre going.

8) do not ever randomly wander aimlessly around the set. you will look crazy and probably be in someones way.

9) always have towels on hand for actors & anyone on set who needs them.

10) make sure ur cases are weather proof. u do not want melted eyeliners, lipsticks any of your cream makeup.. melted makeup is awful.. weather proof everything...

if i think of anything else ive learned ill be sure to post it..

random tips

so, i thought id post some random tips here cuz im bored cleaning out my kit and washing brushes for class..

-it is best to use any form of pros aide in a medicine cup or a paper palette.. it is so hard to take pros aide off anything else, nail polish, acetone and mek are pretty much the only things that will take it off...

-myristate is amazing. when using pros aide on your skin or hair, myristate is heaven when removing the pros aide.

-use dawn or palmolive dish soap to remove myristate from your brushes.

-gafquat is very sticky. wash your hair thoroughly after any use of gafquat.

-if u have any allergy to any powders in latex or vinyl, bald caps r not for u (i learned the hard way)

-greasepaint is awful. if you use a steaming hot towel and let it set on the greasepaint and pros aide on your skin it will help loosen the product, making it easier to remove.

these are all things ive learned during bald cap week at school..
